Vision 2010:

The Director and the SIRD family has envisioned that by 2010 it would emerge as a premiere institute in the country and a national level resource centre on democratic decentralization, floriculture, medicinal plants, natural resource management, rural employement and sustainable development.

NIRD, hyderbad has sponsored 3 best performing SIRDs in the country for an international programme in Indonesia in 2005.SIRD Sikkim was one of the participants.
